Vogelaar Park Land Exchange and Redesign

As part of the renovation of Glenwood Springs Elementary and the continuing efforts to institute changes proposed in the Confluence Plan, Vogelaar Park will be reconfigured. Additional park land will be added to the west and south of the current park. A portion of the area where the baseball diamond currently is located will be utilized primarily for housing with the possibility of a limited amount of commercial/retail space.

Appreciation Day treats bikers, walkers, & transit riders on Halloween

An early-morning event on Tuesday will give a Halloween treat of appreciation to the hundreds of people who are bicycling, walking and riding transit buses during the Grand Avenue Bridge Detour.


When: Tuesday, October 31 from 6:30 am to 8:00 am.
Where: 3 different locations in Glenwood Springs - Two Rivers Park, the Grand Avenue Pedestrian Bridge, and the RiverTrail at 23rd/Grand.


Walkers and transit riders can pick up a free clip-on safety flasher, and cyclists can pick up a set of head and tail lights for their bicycles, provided by the City of Glenwood Springs and the Appreciation Day sponsors.

Community Center Update

The locker room renovation has been completed, and both locker rooms are NOW OPEN.

The pool will re-open on Sunday, October 29.

The Ice Rink is scheduled to open for public skating on Wednesday, November 1, from 12 to 1:30 pm. Please call the front desk at 970-384-6301 before coming to the Ice Rink to confirm it's open.

The holiday lighting celebration will feature wine and food tastings throughout downtown, as well as street performers and other family friendly fun that culminates in the lighting of the new Grand Avenue pedestrian bridge.




Fallen leaves in Glenwood Springs

Leaf Collection Site Now Open

Now through December 31, residents of Glenwood Springs can drop off their fallen leaves at the old rodeo grounds, adjacent to the airport. The service is free but is only open to residents of Glenwood Springs. The collection site is not available for use by commercial operators. Leaves can be dropped off at any time of day.

When dropping off leaves, please take them out of the plastic bag and ensure any stones, litter, branches or other debris have been removed from your leaves to prevent equipment damage and worker injuries.
