Kick Off Bike Season

The City, Garfield Clean Energy, and community partners will be hosting a breakfast and transportation information table for National Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 19, from 7:00-9:00 a.m. at the plaza in front of City Hall. This will be the first of several bike-themed events taking place throughout the spring and summer. Stop by to chat with fellow bicyclists
and grab a snack.

Kid Kamp Registration Ending Soon

Registration for Kid Kamp is going on now, and ends May 26 at 5 pm. Don’t let your children be the only ones missing out on all the fun. Weekly activities include swimming, climbing and archery at the Community Center, plus exciting field trips and new adventures. Campers will participate in activities sure to put the FUN in summer! Walk in registration will be accepted at the Glenwood Springs Community Center with a completed parent packet, a copy of current immunizations, photo of your child and payment.

Roadwork Updates

US Highway 6 Mill and Fill Begins Monday, May 8
From Monday, May 8 through approximately Friday, May 19, some areas of US 6 will be in an alternating one-lane configuration while crews pave the highway. Traffic control will maintain two lanes when possible. Expect 15-minute delays, from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Temporary traffic holds are anticipated on side streets.
 
I-70 Exit 116 Eastbound On-ramp Closures 
The Exit 116 eastbound off-ramp is open during this time.
From 5:30-9:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, the I-70 Exit 116 eastbound on-ramp will be closed. To access eastbound I-70, use westbound I-70 to Exit 114 and turn around at the interchange.
 
Intersection Work Resumes
Downtown Glenwood Springs on Eighth Street (between School Street and Grand Avenue), Colorado Avenue (between Eighth Street and Ninth Street) and Ninth Street (between Colorado Avenue and Grand Avenue) will be paved after the Memorial Day holiday.
 
Mill and fill operations are scheduled for Tuesday, May 30 through Friday, June 2. Parking will be closed on Eighth Street from School Street to Grand Avenue, Colorado Avenue from Eighth to Ninth streets and Ninth Street between Colorado and Grand avenues during this time. Downtown streets will be closed during paving operations. Crews will open City streets at the end of each work day.

GAB Employer Roundtable

The Colorado Department of Transportation Grand Avenue Bridge (GAB) project team and the City of Glenwood Springs invite area employers to a second GAB Employer Roundtable. The meeting is on Wednesday, May 10 at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Springs City Hall, Council Chambers. Project engineers and the public information team will give a brief presentation and discuss how large and small employers in the area are working to reduce traffic during the detour. Lunch will be provided.
