14th Street Pedestrian Bridge

Join Us for a Ribbon Cutting of the New 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge

On Feb. 16 at 1pm, the City of Glenwood Springs will celebrate the opening of the 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge with our funding partners. Join us on the bridge for a ribbon cutting. The city received a $350,000 Garfield County Federal Mineral Lease District grant for this project.

New Zamboni

New Zamboni on the Ice

Our new 2016 Zamboni is now in service. The City purchased the new equipment to replace an old Zamboni that was used in the 2002 Olympics and that has served Glenwood since the early 2000s. The New Zamboni is a 546 Propane model.

Judge Maurer

Council Names Amanda N. Maurer as Municipal Judge

City Council on Feb. 2 named Amanda N. Maurer as the new Municipal Judge for the City. She has served as Substitute Municipal Judge for the City since 2007. She also currently serves as the Municipal Judge for the Town of New Castle and Associate Municipal Judge for the City of Rifle, Town of Gypsum, and Town of Silt.

Night Detours on I-70 and GAB to Accommodate Girder Delivery

Steel girders for the new Grand Avenue Bridge are arriving mid-February. To accommodate their delivery, there will be upcoming night detours on I-70 and the Grand Avenue Bridge.

Westbound I-70 Night Detour to Sixth Street 

  • The evenings of Monday, Feb. 20 through Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 8 PM to 6 AM, all westbound I-70 traffic will be detoured via a break-in-barrier onto east Sixth Street. Traffic will be detoured through Sixth Street to the Exit 116 interchange for access to I-70 westbound.
  • Traffic on I-70 eastbound will remain in its normal configuration during these night detours. The Grand Avenue Bridge will remain closed all three nights of the westbound I-70 detour.
  FULL I-70 Night Detour to Sixth Street  
  • The evening of Thursday, Feb 23, Monday, Feb. 27 and Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 8 PM to 6 AM, all I-70 traffic will be detoured onto east Sixth Street. Both eastbound and westbound traffic will merge into a one-lane configuration and will be detoured through Sixth Street in Glenwood Springs via a break-in-barrier on I-70 near Yampah Vapor Caves. The Grand Avenue Bridge will be closed during this time. 
  • Eastbound I-70 traffic wishing to access Glenwood Springs and SH-82 to Aspen should exit early at the west Glenwood Exit 114.  
  • Westbound I-70 traffic wishing to access Glenwood Springs will exit at the I-70 break-in-barrier prior to Exit 116 and will detoured via US Hwy 6.

City Facilities Closed for Presidents' Day - 2/20

In observance of Presidents’ Day, please be aware of the following City facility closures. City of Glenwood Springs administrative offices and non-emergency services, including City Hall, will be closed to the public on February 20, 2017.

Aquatics Closed 2/17-2/26 for Maintenance

The City of Glenwood Springs will temporary close the aquatics facilities from February 17 to February 26 for maintenance.
