Community on the Move proclamation

Council recognizes Community on the Move with Proclamation

On Nov. 17, 2016, City Council recognized the work of Community on the Move, an ad hoc committee of the Chamber that worked to educate, promote and encourage voters to support renewal of the Acquisition and Improvement sales and use tax and authorize financing for capital improvements in the City. Glenwood Springs Mayor Michael Gamba read a proclamation on behalf of the entire City Council at the City Council meeting.
Voters approved the two A&I ballot measures on Election Day.

Shop Local Logo

Shop Local this Holiday Season!

By shopping locally on Small Business Saturday (November 26, 2016) and throughout this holiday season, money is returned to our community through sales tax and we continue to support our healthy mix of small businesses and chains. Tax money is what keeps cities going, roads functioning, the Community Center open and other services operating. When you shop locally, you can also find everything from artisan-made items to gift certificates to restaurants and attractions. Shop Local. It makes cents!

Grinches are Real - Protect your Purchases

Every year during the holiday shopping season, people suffer losses from thieves taking advantage of their habits. Shoppers should never leave mounds of presents in their cars when shopping, but rather take them home before making a fresh run at the stores! Thieves will cruise parking areas and look for unattended cars with packages and bags, then enter and steal those gifts. It only takes seconds for a thief that is practiced in vehicle entry to pop a window or a door and take all the goodies inside. So when your gifts are too much to carry, please take them somewhere secure first, then shop on!!
