Temporary Use Permits

Temporary sales, uses and structures are allowed by permit within the city of Glenwood Springs.
Definitions

A temporary use is any outdoor retail or wholesale sales on a short term basis including but not limited to
 
  • Produce stands and food carts or trucks
  • Peddlers, solicitors, hawkers
  • Itinerant and transient merchants
 
A temporary sales structure is a structure for the purpose of storing or displaying goods for retail sale or for the purpose of conducting business for a short term outside of a pre-existing building or structure, including but not limited to
 
  • Long-term or recurrent yard or garage sales
  • Produce stands
  • Tents
  • Fences
  • Tables
  • Display racks
  • Canopies
  • Vending carts, trailers and other vehicles


Permitting Requirements

You are required to obtain a permit for any temporary sales use or structure, as well as special community events held within the City of Glenwood Springs.  The permitting process depends on the nature and location of your temporary sales, use or event.

City Parks

If you intend to set up in any of the City's parks, contact the Parks Department at 970-384-6305 for applications and permitting procedures.
 

Commercial Areas


Temporary sales, uses and structures are allowed by permit-only on public and on private property within any of the city's commercial and industrial zone districts.  This does not include the "wing" streets which are located on either side of the Grand Avenue Bridge between 7th & 8th streets, or on the 7th Street Esplanade.

Residential Areas

Currently Temporary Sales are not allowed in the city's residential areas.
  
Food Vendors
If you are a food vendor, you must receive approval from Garfield County Public Health before the Community Development Department can issue your Temporary Sales Permit.  Refer to Food Vendor Health Inspections for additional information including Public Health contact names and numbers.
